Today marks the 7th week anniversary of my first severe headache. It all started May 19, 2008 when I got a shooting pain through the back of my head. I was in the middle of a meeting with my employee when it happened. Since then I’ve gotten more generic all over pain lasting all day long than the shooting pain although on rare occasions I do get the shooting pain. I started taking ibuprofin every day. I took about 14 pills a day and that seemed to make them go away. Then I saw my doctor because they just would not go away on their own. I was pretty much dependent upon taking Ibuprofin every day, so I knew something wasn’t right.

She told me I was taking way too much Ibuprofin and did a neurological exam. Everything appeared normal so she presecribed me some Naproxin. It said to take 1 a day as needed. I noticed that if I didn’t take the Naproxin before the pain began (and it always started in the morning) that the Naproxin did not work.

I went back to see the doctor and she put me on some blood pressure medicine. This did not work at all and had terrible side affects (drowsiness, could not work). I was tired all the time.

I left a message for her last Thursday (July 3rd) telling her I just cannot bear the headaches anymore and the medicine does not work, just makes me tired. She hasn’t called back yet. So now I’m waiting for the next medicine. She won’t order an MRI until we’ve exhuasted the various therapies.

The one unique symptom I have that I haven’t told my doctor yet is that when I turn my head down it feels like I got water up my nose.

If anyone can relate to what I’ve posted, please comment. Any advice is welcomed.
